- 1 lb lean ground turkey
- 2 large sweet potatoes
- 1 yellow onion
- 2 cloves garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 4 whole wheat hamburger buns
- 4 leaves lettuce leaves
- 2 slices tomato
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- ½ tsp salt
Steps
-
Step 1
Preheat grill to medium-high heat. In a large bowl, combine 1 lb lean ground turkey, 1/2 cup finely chopped yellow onion, and 2 minced garlic cloves. Season with 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper. Mix well with your hands until just combined. Do not overmix.
-
Step 2
Divide the turkey mixture into 4 equal parts and shape into patties. Grill the patties for 5-6 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F. Transfer to a plate and let rest.
-
Step 3
Peel 2 large sweet potatoes and cut into 1/2-inch thick fries. Place the sweet potato fries in a bowl and drizzle with 2 tbsp olive oil. Toss to coat evenly. Season with salt to taste.
-
Step 4
Heat a large baking sheet in the oven at 400°F. Spread the sweet potato fries in a single layer on the preheated baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until crispy and golden brown.
-
Step 5
Assemble the burgers by spreading 1 tbsp mayonnaise on the bottom bun, followed by a cooked turkey patty, a few lettuce leaves, a tomato slice, and finally the top bun. Serve with sweet potato fries on the side.
