How to save recipes from a photo

The recipe box in a drawer. The index card with the vanilla stain. The cookbook page you've dog-eared for a decade. None of those have a link to paste. Here's how to bring them into Prepful anyway.

Snap a photo, or upload one

Works for cookbook pages, handwritten cards, and screenshots alike.

  1. Open Prepful, then go to Recipes > Add > Import Recipe.

  2. Choose Photo, then take a new picture or pick one from your camera roll.

  3. Prepful reads the ingredients and steps out of the image.

  4. Review the recipe, fix anything that came through wrong, then save it to your library.

If it doesn't work

Handwriting quality matters most: a clear, well-lit photo of legible writing works well, but faded pencil, tight cursive, or a blurry shot can trip it up the same way it would trip up a person reading it cold. If something comes through wrong, you can always edit it by hand before saving, so a rough scan still saves you re-typing the whole thing.
